Hiking in the Mt Everest Region

Anil Khatri, IIT,Engineer from Kanpur, UP State, India presented his experiences during the Hiking in the Mt Everest Region. He started his hiking in Mt Everest Region from typical Nepali village along with local Sherpas who carried their luggage. However before they started Hiking they acclimatized with the weather.
He added that the lack of sufficient oxygen at the certain height adversely affects Lungs and Brian. They had to also carry some medicines for the same including ‘Diamox’. He said that ‘Himalayan terrine was very difficult. Therefore it is necessary to respect the weather for smooth Hiking.
He added that before going for such difficult venture in Himalaya he had also experiences of hiking in the California including hiking in Half Dome, Yosemite, Mt Whitney and Black Mountains.
They started Hiking from the small airport Lukla (2650m) Height)to Kala Patthar. They pass through many places like Tyangbosche,(Having fine Buddhist Monastery at height of 3867m ) Dingbocho,(Having small Tea House at the height of 4360m). He said Kala Patthar is at the height of 5554m from where you can see the ice peaks of Himalaya. It is a base camp for Mt Everest. It is very scenic with Milky river and Khumbu Glacier.
Dr M K Rao introduced Anil Khatri and also proposed vote of thanks at the ends.
Thereafter Vasanti Bhatt conducted Yoga from 12.00 Noon to 1pm.

Dr Akur Srinivasan was a guest speaker . The meeting was presided over by Dr V T Jotwani , former Dy Director, The department of Health, Government of India.
The program was started with the prayer by Smt Vijayalaxmi. Thereafter M L Swamy, Secratary ,FOSWL welcomed the gathering with the brief report regarding the expansions of FOSWL, in various places.
Jagdish Rustogi, President of the FOSWL, gave his opening remarks and Mrs Saroj Agrawal introduced Dr A Srinivasan.
Dr A Srinivasan who is incidentally the Vice President of the ‘FOSWL’ complimented the contributions made by former president late Suresh Shah and by the Joint Secretaries A Narayanaswamy and Bharat Desai. He also appreciated the cooperation extended by C G Desai and M Santhnam in this regard.
Dr Srinivasan gave talk on “The environmental influence on food quality in relation to human nutrition and health”. He gave detail information on the effect of environment on the food and how it is closely connected with the health. Sunlight, Moonlight,Darkness, Earthquakes etc also make great effect on the food. Food is very important on nutrition point of view as it sustain the body and it also help in its development. Therefore Hindu religion has given importance to nature of food you eat.
He further briefed regarding the sources of food. Food Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, Plants, Nuts and Animals are the sources of food from which body can gets Protins, Carbohydrates, Minerals, and Vitamins etc. As example BI AND B12 Vitamins help to stop the problem regarding Heart decease,Stroke etc.
There are various types of food like fermented, processed and formulated. They have good and bad effect on our Health. The thermally processed food sometime increase the toxic value. However he concluded that type of food habit is very important for healthy Body and Mind.
Thereafter there was question answer session which was received very well.
Dr Jotwani made summing up wherein he gave tips regarding healthy food habits. He added that in all the milks Camel milk has more nutrition value. Row food is good but its depend upon the capacity of digesting it. He added that every thing taken moderately is always good including wine.

FIRST MONDAY PROGRAM AS ON 01/02/2012

GLOBAL TREKKING

The program was inaugurated with the Tamil devotional song by Prema Santhnam.. M Santhnam thereafter introduced the speakers T P Subramonian and Manisha Shah. The Guest speaker Anu Peshawaria could not attend the program due to unavoidable circumstances.Manisha shah agreed to give a talk on the ‘Immigration Laws‘ in the absence of Guest speaker.
T P Subramonian spoke on the world scenario in the year 2011. He informed regarding the withdrawal of the last batch of American troops from Iraq. He said that brings the end of Iraqi war. However he added that America lost 4000 soldiers and 30000 injured in the said war..
He further pointed out regarding the rise of Democracy and the movements against Dictatorship in the some of the countries of Africa and the Middle East. The countries like Libya Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Bahrain also faced the violent protest.
Besides that he said that world has been facing economic recession in the 2011. America and Europe are the major victims of the same. There were protest against governments all over the world due to inflation, unemployment's, and economic Hardship. Even the wall street is also not spared from the same.
India is also affected from the said economic crises. The Indian Rupee is also losing its value which is adversely affecting Indian economy. Besides that strong agitation is going on against the corruption and black money under the Leadership Anna Hazare. India is also facing problems within like Telangana Agitation, The water sharing problem between kerala and Tamilnadu, The Division of UP and the strong naxelite movement.
He concluded at the end that science and technology are also doing well. The Google’s project on driver less car has made Good Way. Besides that intelligent assistance program on Verbal Command is also doing well.
Thereafter Manisha Shah shared her experiences regarding immigration laws of various countries. She said that American immigration laws are based on numbers as quotas are fixed for each country while European immigration laws are based on merits because they want to admit specific skilled, and efficient immigrant. She added that Swiss immigration laws are more complicated. she was critical of Indian immigration law as there are no clarity and it is run by police.
She added that immigration law is a civil law and not criminal law. She concluded that each country makes it immigration law on the basis of its requirements. The American law stress more on the knowledge of English and on the financial status of immigrant. This is in order to see that immigrant may not become financial liability to the state.
M Santhnam proposed vote of Thank.Thereafter one hour ‘Yoga Session’ was conducted by Mahendrabhai.

Fourth Monday program as on 26 Th December 2011 at India community center,Cupertino,CA.

Shakuntala Bahdur introduced Murali Krishnamurthy who presented the karaoke musical program along with his Group. The other members of the Group were Nirmalkumar, Sudha and Shobha.. Murali Krishnamurthy is a music lover Even Though professionally he is Engineer. He is also one of the founders of ‘Sankara Foundation’. Murali Krishnamurthy informed that they had started building ‘Eye Hospitals under ‘Sankara Foundation’ since 1998 and now they are having 8 Hospitals. He added that one more is already under construction at Punjab.
The Group was welcome by Prema Santhnam, and Mrs Rastogi with flowers.
Thereafter Sudha started with old Hindi movie songs. she presented classical and semi classical songs. She also sang duet with Nirmal Kumar and Murali. Murali also presented few hit song of ‘Shanker Jaikishan’ . Nirmal kumar also presented few Hindi songs .
Shobha and Sudha also presented Tamil songs. Murali Krishnamurthy presented song’ Jina Isika Naam Hai’ very well. It was received very well. Sudha’s song ‘Bolere Papiharaa ‘was also very well presented. Nirmalkumar song ‘Nil Nil Amber Ho’ was also very pleasant. Anu Jagadeesh introduced some of the Guest who were present. She presented singer couple Rishi and Seema who presented one song from film’ Lage Raho Munnabhai’. She also introduced the President of ‘Kannada Sangh’
The group was felicitated at the end. Pradeep Joshi proposed vote of thanks.

THIRD MONDAY PROGRAM ON ‘SPIRITUALISM’ AS ON 19 TH DECEMBER 2011 AT ICC CUPERTINO,CA -I.E. ON “CHRISTIANITY”

The program was started with the melodious music over Piano. Dinesh Bajaj introduced Huge Riddell a speaker of the day. Huge Riddell is former High School Teacher of the Cupertino, CA. Bajaj also added that he is also on the Boards of ‘YMCA’ and ‘Churches’ respectively. Sunila Fondekar welcomed the guest with flowers Buckie.
Huge Riddell gave the brief history of Christianity and the difference between Judaism and Christianity. He said since the time of Roman Empire the Jude believed that God has not yet come on this earth but they had strong belief that all calamities are brought by God. While Christan believed that God has come on the earth in the form of Christ. However the foundation of Christianity was laid by the close disciples of Christ after his death on cross.
The Roman Emperor Constantine accepted the God on Cross. Thereafter the Christianity was well established. The Roman Catholic Christian accepted the Pope as their Head. Catholic believed in one God. They also believed that all Christan goes to Heaven. The several Sub Sects were developed in the Christianity with the course of time .The English Church was established in the time of King Henry wherein king was made the head of the Church. Martin Luther King from Germany also supported Protestant Church. Baptist and Mormon are also different outlooks in Christianity.
Huge concluded that the Christmas celebration has its own meaningful purpose. It is a celebration of sharing of noble and spiritual ideas including sharing of financial wealth.
Dinesh Bajaj, Jayshree Vasavada, Rangan, M Santhnam and Bharat Desai took active part in question answer session. The program was ended with summing up and vote of thanks by Dinesh Bajaj.
Thereafter ‘Yoga’ was conducted for one hour by Mahendrabhai.

The Second Monday Program as on 12 Th December 2011 under ‘Friends On Same Wave Length’ at India community center, Cupertino CA

M K Rao presided over the program which was addressed by Vikram Grover,Senior Manger,(SPD), Google, San Jose CA. M Santhnam welcomed the Chief Guest and Dinesh Bajaj introduced him.
The program started with prayer. Thereafter Vikram Grover made power point presentations on’ The creation of maps in India and its Associated challenges’.
Vikram Grover pointed out the general difficulties faced by Google to prepare the Maps India as
1)The Cities are generally not planed
2)The Addresses are Vague
3)The Names of the streets are also not clear
4)They have to face difficulties from the Government on Security Ground
5) The General mapping also become Controversial due to Border Disputes
He further added that in spite of all those problems we have been able make very good progress. We achieved that with the help of Local Authorities, Yellow Pages, Business Circle, and Local people. The satellite technology has been also very helpful in this matter.
He also briefed regarding the advantage of mapping technology as under
1) It guides Regarding Roads and Address of the destination. It also saves the waste of time
2) It can also show the time consumption during the journey
3) It also provides Telepone nos,Bus and Train Timings
4) It can guide you regarding the points of interest.
5) Some time business people can supervise the activities of their employees in the field.
6) It indicates Hotels, Restaurants and Petrol Pumps etc of the Area.
The information available is upgraded through feedback on our website or through our people in the field. Besides that all information is being supervised by google. He added that technology is meant for general use of the people.
He also briefed regrading the latest projects of google.i.e.The Introduction of fast Internet Engine and, Free wireless facilities,
Hari Varma suggested to take help of the Indian postal department’s in the Mapping efforts in India. Manisha Shah pointed out the misuse of such technology by certain elements. Dinesh Bajaj and PK Banga also took part in the discussions.

Chhajuka Chaubara Program as on 7th December 2011 at India community center, Cupertino, CA

The Program was started by the musical presentations by P K Banga and Manilal Jagtap.
Jagtap also presented one of the Hindi movie songs on mouthorgan. Avtar Kaur also presented devotional song.
Thereafter Amrita Verma presented the talk on how Capital from Calcutta to New Delhi was shifted under British Rule. She also gave very good picture how New Delhi was built up those days.
Parthsarthy discussed the happiness and unhappiness and reasons thereof. He gave positive aspects of happiness like Love, Affection and the maintenance of Good Health. However he added that we become unhappy some time because of worries, anxiety and hatred. He concluded that out all worries 90 % are Baseless, 5% are because of What other think about us while 4% are created by our imaginations.Therefore remaining 1% worries are only genuine. Hence we should create a state of mind whereby we can get rid of worries and make our self happy.
Dr Akur Srinivasan talk on ‘The investigating journalism’ which should be responsible and based on truth. In this connection he referred several cases from 1872 including Water Gate,(USA) Mundra, Boffers and 2 G Spectrum cases. He further added that investigating journalism is not easy wherein journalist has to examine truth, and to do undercover operation. They have to even take photographs to substantiate their contentions if necessary.
Thereafter Anuradha Jagdeesh along with Group leader Shobha Prabakar presented the devotional songs including in Kannada. Raghavan Embar was on Tabala.
The coordination in presentation of the program was excellent. The group presented the devotional songs related to all Indian deities.i.e. Siva, Ganesh, Kartikya, Ram, Krishna, Ambaa, Lord Ayyepan, Tulsi, Laxmi, etc. They created very pious atmosphere by their melodious Bhajans From Meera, Dayanand Saraswati and other Saints. The program was concluded with the world peace song ‘Maitree’ written by Chakravarty Rajgopalchari.
B K Rao made sum up at the end and thanked the group for presenting such nice program.
