 T  P Subrmoninon presented 'Omkara' and then explained the significance of the  'Onam' festival in Kerala. He added that it is celebrated in order to improve the quality of life. It is also fastival of boating . The family meetings and even exchanging of gifts also takes place during the said festival. It is 10 days long festival. Mani also  sang 'Onam' song along with T P Subramonian.
                                                     Tripathi gave talk on the Ramayana. Ramji Patel gave talk on the History of Indians who migrated abroad. S Krishnamurthy gave his recent impression of India.

Dr Mahipal Ghemawat gave talk on Health Care. Dr V Jotwani also described  his experiences of 'Kerala'. A  Narayanaswami gave talk on 'Shoes' wherein  he mentioned about how Hindus  humbly respect the 'sandal' of great Saints. Indu Chhabra presented few Jokes
                                                     Sailaja Gogte presented  devonaional song from Hindi movie i.e. ' Meri Chundari Me Laga Dag'. Dinkar presented the Kirtan of  Tyagrajan. Bharat Desai  presented his own Devotional Song. Besides that Mrulani presented one song in Marathi.

                                                     Shilpa Joshi gave briefing regarding the workshops conducted be 'Santa Clara Valley Medical Center' for Seniors. It relates to ' Self Management-i.e. How to take care of Chronic Deceases?'

                                                        Bhalerao gave talk on  his past experiences with ICC, Cupertino while his wife Nalini recited prayer on' Saraswati'. B K Rao also extended his talk on the past subject.
                                                       Sailaja presented devotional song and Thadani presented one Saigal song' Tum Bin Keaise Bita' from  old Hindi Movie. Indu Chhabra also presented one Gazals' Kuch Nahi Kahete' along with Jokes.
                                                       Thereafter Suhas Gogte made musical presentation from the Movies of late Rajesh Khanna. He presented melodious songs from Aradhana, Amar Prem,Ajnabi,Kati Patang, Khamoshi etc. They were received  very well by members. Suhas Gogte also presented few Marathi songs from Marathi Movies including one song composed by Radaynath Mangeshkar. Mrs Gogte mother of Suhash also presented one Marathi song at the end.
                                                        The grandson son of R B Singh was also greeted on his Birth Day.

                                       T P Subramonian introduced the Guest speaker Chetan V Sanghvi, who is from  IIT, Kharagpur, Editor of ‘Jain Digest’,  and Executive Director, CG-CoreEL, Fremont,CA
                                       Chetan Sanghavi started his presentation very meticulously by explaining the meaning of  some of the important terms. He explained ‘Namaste ‘as ‘I see God Within’ and ‘Jain Jaindra ‘means ‘ I see pure soul Within.’
                                         He Said Jainism started with Bhagwan Rushabhdev before thousands of years ago and it ended 2600 Years ago with the last Tirthanker  Mahavirswami. The main objective of Jainism is to empower Oneself, Society and Universe. It preaches that to attain Siddhi level one has to give up Rag and Dwesh. He further added that it teaches to accept True and to reject Untrue. The faith and knowledge always brings Self Realization on its own. The soul is in every living being and it is eternal and pure. The state of purity takes one to Siddha state of mind.
                                         He further stated that Jainism also believes in respecting the equality, the Right to put self efforts,the acceptance of right of liberty in all living being. Besides that it also support the right of equal existence. He further informed  that the religious messages are important but to understand the same has greater importance. Besides that it is necessary that those conveyed  messages are practice after understanding them properly. One has to prove that he is enlightened through his conduct with others.
\                                          The Non possessiveness (Aparigraha), Adhering to the Truth  are the  basic concepts in Jainism. He concluded that Forgiveness,Introspection, Meditation are the sign of Realization.
                                          The question answer session was also received very well. The several members actively participated in same.

(Indian Independence Day Celebration)

                                           Mrulani offered prayer in the beginning of program. Thereafter A Narayanaswami presented 'Omkar' with its history thereon.
                                           Rajlaxmi presented history of Indian independence struggle along with present prevailing condition in India.
                                            The guest speaker Dr Subbb Rao started his address with the patriotic songs along with some of the senior members. He reminded that about 117 countries became free following the Indian independence. They were all inspired by the Indian independence struggle and its non violence movement. He also gave history of 'Gandhi Youth Camps all over world including in USA. He further added that India has become free physically but we have to free ourselves in every sense. He said that the creation of Bangladesh has made theory of  creating country on the basis religion irreverent.  He added sometime language makes stronger Bonds. He further pointed out that literature of Ravindranath Tagore is still  popular in Bangladesh. He informed that India has very vast population of Muslims and besides that Nagaland,Mizoram are dominated by christian population. Therefore message of love is the best solution of all religious problems.
                                           Mr and Mrs T P Subramonion presented the reform movements of Vishvanathan. He also added the services rendered by his daughters Mrualini Sarbhai and Capt Laxmi Sehgal. R B Singh presented his eye witness report of the independence day of India, 1947. Dr Jotwani also described his experiences of independent day. He also added that' india is the  country who has well stabalised democracy since 65 years. Ramji Patel informed regarding the contributions made by overseas Indians during the Indian freedom struggle. Bharat Desai described the sacrificed made by the freedom fighters. Mrs Talwalkar presented service rendered  by Subhaschandra Bose in the freedom struggle.
                                            Thadani, Gita Mahajani, Indu Chhabra, Sita Dinkar and Suhashini presented patriotic songs. Atithi Desai presented  'Mere Deshki Dharati-- song on Key Board.
                                      The program ended with national anthems.

Friends On Same Wavelength meeting as on13 Th August 2012

The meeting was started with the prayer.  Serma Chairperson gave the the opening remarks wherein he mentioned the  importance of weed management in India.
                              Sita Dinker gave introduction of the Guest Speaker Dr B Sivaji Rao, Phd in Weed from Cornell University,Ithaca, New York University, USA. He had also work as consultant on weeds with pesticide companies.
                              Dr Rao Guest Speaker  briefed that India is agriculture based country wherein Agriculture is 16% of GDP which provides 52% of work force. The Indian population is the 17% of world population. The present productivity in agriculture is decline to 20% to 3o%.
                               He further added that  lot of farmer committed  suicides because of adverse financial conditions. Between 1995 to 2010, 50000, 35000 and 32000 farmers committed suicides in Maharashtra  Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh recepectivly. This also shows the declining agricultural yields in India. Between the 2006 to 2010 the declined was in the major crops including  Rice,and Wheat. Even Indian Crop yield per Hector is 1/3 of the world.
                              Besides that he informed that crop losses due to weeds is about 45% and due to insects is about 30%. the remaining 25% loss is due to other reasons. Therefore the weed and grass management is  very important task in the India.
                             The weeds and grass are generally eliminated by manually or mechanically or chemically  However it is easy to remove mechanically in USA in view of large land ownership. The 40%, 10% and 30% of Herbicides are used in USA, India, and World recepectivly. However he concluded that more is supposed to be done in India in order to elimination of weeds.
                            There was a question answer session which was received well.
