Fourth Friday Program as on 09/28/2012 at 'ICC ,Cupertino,CA.

The program started with Ganesh Prayer by Padma Rajgopalan. Thereafter M C Badami took Chair and gave his opening remark on Sir Visveswaraiah and also gave introduction of Guest Speaker.
                                  Prof. A Srinivasan a Guest Speaker presented his power point presentation on 'The work and life of Sir Visveswaraiah, The role of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in the scientific research in India.
                                  Dr Srinivasan described the contribution Sir Visveswaraiah as Diwan in the old Mysore State. He established the Engineering college, Mysore University, Bhadravati Iron and Steel Plant. He also built up Krishna Sagar Dam with beautiful Garden around  Sir Visveswaraiah was man of high character and use to donate large portion of his income for good cause.
                                  The Indian of institute science was established in Bangalore in the year 1909 with the financial support of Jamshedji Tata. Tata was very much inspired to start such institution by Swami Vivekananda.
                                  Dr Srinivasan also talk  regrading the contribution made by Indian Institute of Science in the field of scientific research.  C V Raman, Homi Bhabha, Dr Dhawan, Vikram Sarabhai, Dr G N Ramchandran and Noble Prize winner Dr Venket Raman are all associated with the Indian Institute of Science Bangalore.  All those scientists contributed  very well in their fields.  Therefore institute has been great source of strength in the scientific field of Industries  Engineering, Chemical, Aro Engineering, Space Research and Atomic science.
                                      B K Rao also briefed regarding the financial skill of Sir Visveswaraiah as Administrator. He also set right the fiances of Surat and Karachi Municipalities. However He got more projection for his  contribution  in Bombay Municipality. He was the first Engineer who got Bharat Ratna for his overall contributions.
                                   
                           Padma Rajgopal presented devotional and classical music at the end.

'FRIENDS ON SAME WAVELENGTH' PROGRAM AS ON 23RD SEPTEMBER AT
ICC, MILPITAS, CA













































































































    
(THE INAUGURATION OF FIRST SESSION REGARDING 'THE CELEBRATION OF COMPLETION OF 150 SESSIONS')

                                                   The Inaugural session for celebrating  the completion of 150 th session was started at 10.00 AM wherein M Santhnam was requested to Chair the Session in  the absence Jagdish Rastogi, President who was in indisposed suddenly. All Executive members of the 'FOSWL' were felicitated in the beginning of Session.
                                                    Thereafter M L Swamy gave welcome address wherein he introduced the FOSWL and its other units thereon. Professor A Srinivasan, Vice President gave brief  details regarding the lecture series  and its high qualities. He also observed that 'FOSWL' is being  handled in perfect professional Manner. Gopi Godhwani, Chairperson, Senior, gave credit to the volunteers for running the 'ICC' programs successfully. She also informed that ICC,Milpitas is running Medical Clinic for the people who does not have insurance and required help thereon. Besides that She added that ICC is serving about 400 Seniors for making their life Happy and Healthy. Dr  V S Serma, President of 'FOSWL-INDIA,Chennai thanked the the Executive Committee of 'FOSWL', Cupertino for giving guidance and cooperation.
                                                    A Narayanswami read the Good Wishes messages received from  B K Rao,IAS(Retired), Umakanth Serma,IAS(Retired) and from the Chief of Chinmayanand Mission,San Jose,CA.
                                                     M  Rangamani Swamy introduced Honorable Jose Esteves, Mayor of Milpitas, CA.
                                                     Honarable Jose Esteves gave rich tribute for the excellent caliber, and experiences of Seniors  He advised youth to take the advantage of the same. He concluded with giving  tribute to 'ICC' for serving the community. The Mayor also released the Souvenir of 'FOSWL'on the ocession of completing  150 Sessions. 'FOSWL'also presented Memento to the Honarable Jose Esteves, Mayor of Milpitas and Mayor also gave Commendation  to the 'Friends On Same Wavelength'.
                                                     Thereafter M Santhnam also gave his Concluding Remarks. The session  ended with the 'Vote of Thank by Bharat Desai, Joint Secretary, FOSWL.

SECOND SESSION FROM 11.00 AM TO 1.00 PM    =====================================
The One Hundred Fifty First Session of ' FOSWL ' at ICC, Milpitas,CA as on  23 RD September 2012.

The session was Chaired by B K Rao and the  Guest Speaker was Dr Vinod Aggarwal, Phd,Director, Berkeley 'APEC' , Study Center, University of California, Berkeley.
                                                          M K Rao introduced the Guest Speaker wherein he mentioned that he is a Versatile person with the knowledge of Six Languages.
                                                           B K Rao mentioned in his opening remarks regarding the unique ocession wherein Youth is addressing the Seniors.
                                                            Dr Aggarwal started his address on 'Linking Traditional and Nontraditional Security in Bilateral Trade Agreements: The US Approach' with giving the details regarding the Major Agreements. He added that there is a  Trade World Organization which is managing 100 countries with trade agreements thereon. Besides that there are other trade Agreements like ' North American Agreement, European Union Agreement, South Asian Countries Agreement, Israel- American Special Trade Agreement etc.  He added that 'NAFTA' is very controversial Trade Agreement.
                                                             He said that most of the Trade Agreements are based on Power/ Politics along with other Factors like Environment, Human Right, Child Labor, Cheap Labor, and Block trade. He said some of the countries fix high Tariff in order to restrict the import.   In short all Bilateral Agreements are based on the Strength, and Bargaining/ Lobbying power of the   concerned Countries.  In the 1947 thirty five countries were opposing the entry of Japan in'The Trade World Organization' as they were unable to compit with it Goods. However it was rectified afterwords and Japan was given Entry in 'TWO'. He concluded with that the Trade Agreement also base upon Political System of Country, or Holding of Weapons of Mass Destruction. Some time the trade agreement is being use to bring pressure on the country who is very badly need of certain Trade.
                                      The Vote of Thank was Proposed at the end.

(The Celebrations of ‘Ganesh Chaturthi’ and the’ Birth Anniversary of Ravindranath Tagore)

The program started with prayer offered by Shamala. Thereafter M Santhnam presented ‘ Omkar’ with it meaning thereon.
                                     Rajlaxmi started with the poem of Ravindranath Tagore ‘Where the head is held high---. It was  followed by Shakuntala Bahadur and Pushpa Mathur who  presented  Bengali Songs of Tagore. R B Singh gave the biographic sketch of Ravindranath Tagore and his contribution to literature and culture. He further informed that Ravindranath was not highly educated but his Contribution to the Society was very Unique. The Senior ladies presented song of tagore at the end.
                                    Suhashini, Sailja,, Sheela Kelkar and Prema Santhnam also sang devotional songs on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.
                                   Amrit Verma gave talk on the latest ‘Coal Gate scam ‘of India and Manmohansingh, Prime Minister stands thereon. She added that it is very unfortunate that the the Indian parliament session ended without doing any business due to ‘The Coal Gate scandal. Bharat Desai spoke  in Hindi on ‘The Senior’s Health and Happiness’.
                                      The book Title ‘Jatpat’ based on the Curse of caste system in India’ , Written by Hari Verma was Released by Jagdish Rastogi. M Santhnam also gave his comment thereon.  Indu Chhabra and Dr  Mathur also presented jokes at the end.

Third Monday's ' Spiritual Session 'as on 17 Th September 2012

                                                                       The Session was chaired by T P Subramonian who gave introductory remarks on the Islam.
                                                                        Thereafter Sagur Gani, Global Innovation Program Director,Pricewaterhouse Coopers, presented his talk on Islam. Sagur Gani is  academically also qualified in Computer Music, Product Management and The Corporate strategy Development. He started his presentation with basic of Islam. He informed that 'Salam' means Peace and Muslim means who believes in God. Every one is accountable for her/his deeds on the day of Judgement. Therefore each one is supposed to behave in right way. Besides that time is a biggest factor in Islam. He added that in Islam God is described very Kind,Just, Generous, Omnipotent, Knowledgeable and Beautiful.
                                                                      He further informed that five things are important pillars of the Islam.1) Prayer2) Charity3)Fasting i.e. during Ramadan 4) Witnessing One God5)The Pilgrimage to Mecca for paying respect to Caba which is considered to be the House of God i.e. Going for Hajj in Lifetime.
                                                                      The Question /Answer Session  was very interesting wherein several Seniors actively Participated.
                                                                      Sagur Gani was facilitated  by Dinesh Bajaj. The vote of thank was proposed at the end.
