Hiking in the Mt Everest Region

Anil Khatri, IIT,Engineer from Kanpur, UP State, India presented his experiences during the Hiking in the Mt Everest Region. He started his hiking in Mt Everest Region from typical Nepali village along with local Sherpas who carried their luggage. However before they started Hiking they acclimatized with the weather.
He added that the lack of sufficient oxygen at the certain height adversely affects Lungs and Brian. They had to also carry some medicines for the same including ‘Diamox’. He said that ‘Himalayan terrine was very difficult. Therefore it is necessary to respect the weather for smooth Hiking.
He added that before going for such difficult venture in Himalaya he had also experiences of hiking in the California including hiking in Half Dome, Yosemite, Mt Whitney and Black Mountains.
They started Hiking from the small airport Lukla (2650m) Height)to Kala Patthar. They pass through many places like Tyangbosche,(Having fine Buddhist Monastery at height of 3867m ) Dingbocho,(Having small Tea House at the height of 4360m). He said Kala Patthar is at the height of 5554m from where you can see the ice peaks of Himalaya. It is a base camp for Mt Everest. It is very scenic with Milky river and Khumbu Glacier.
Dr M K Rao introduced Anil Khatri and also proposed vote of thanks at the ends.
Thereafter Vasanti Bhatt conducted Yoga from 12.00 Noon to 1pm.

Dr Akur Srinivasan was a guest speaker . The meeting was presided over by Dr V T Jotwani , former Dy Director, The department of Health, Government of India.
The program was started with the prayer by Smt Vijayalaxmi. Thereafter M L Swamy, Secratary ,FOSWL welcomed the gathering with the brief report regarding the expansions of FOSWL, in various places.
Jagdish Rustogi, President of the FOSWL, gave his opening remarks and Mrs Saroj Agrawal introduced Dr A Srinivasan.
Dr A Srinivasan who is incidentally the Vice President of the ‘FOSWL’ complimented the contributions made by former president late Suresh Shah and by the Joint Secretaries A Narayanaswamy and Bharat Desai. He also appreciated the cooperation extended by C G Desai and M Santhnam in this regard.
Dr Srinivasan gave talk on “The environmental influence on food quality in relation to human nutrition and health”. He gave detail information on the effect of environment on the food and how it is closely connected with the health. Sunlight, Moonlight,Darkness, Earthquakes etc also make great effect on the food. Food is very important on nutrition point of view as it sustain the body and it also help in its development. Therefore Hindu religion has given importance to nature of food you eat.
He further briefed regarding the sources of food. Food Grains, Fruits, Vegetables, Plants, Nuts and Animals are the sources of food from which body can gets Protins, Carbohydrates, Minerals, and Vitamins etc. As example BI AND B12 Vitamins help to stop the problem regarding Heart decease,Stroke etc.
There are various types of food like fermented, processed and formulated. They have good and bad effect on our Health. The thermally processed food sometime increase the toxic value. However he concluded that type of food habit is very important for healthy Body and Mind.
Thereafter there was question answer session which was received very well.
Dr Jotwani made summing up wherein he gave tips regarding healthy food habits. He added that in all the milks Camel milk has more nutrition value. Row food is good but its depend upon the capacity of digesting it. He added that every thing taken moderately is always good including wine.
Saroj Alsingar proposed vote of thanks.

FIRST MONDAY PROGRAM AS ON 01/02/2012

The program was inaugurated with the Tamil devotional song by Prema Santhnam.. M Santhnam thereafter introduced the speakers T P Subramonian and Manisha Shah. The Guest speaker Anu Peshawaria could not attend the program due to unavoidable circumstances.Manisha shah agreed to give a talk on the ‘Immigration Laws‘ in the absence of Guest speaker.
T P Subramonian spoke on the world scenario in the year 2011. He informed regarding the withdrawal of the last batch of American troops from Iraq. He said that brings the end of Iraqi war. However he added that America lost 4000 soldiers and 30000 injured in the said war..
He further pointed out regarding the rise of Democracy and the movements against Dictatorship in the some of the countries of Africa and the Middle East. The countries like Libya Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Bahrain also faced the violent protest.
Besides that he said that world has been facing economic recession in the 2011. America and Europe are the major victims of the same. There were protest against governments all over the world due to inflation, unemployment's, and economic Hardship. Even the wall street is also not spared from the same.
India is also affected from the said economic crises. The Indian Rupee is also losing its value which is adversely affecting Indian economy. Besides that strong agitation is going on against the corruption and black money under the Leadership Anna Hazare. India is also facing problems within like Telangana Agitation, The water sharing problem between kerala and Tamilnadu, The Division of UP and the strong naxelite movement.
He concluded at the end that science and technology are also doing well. The Google’s project on driver less car has made Good Way. Besides that intelligent assistance program on Verbal Command is also doing well.
Thereafter Manisha Shah shared her experiences regarding immigration laws of various countries. She said that American immigration laws are based on numbers as quotas are fixed for each country while European immigration laws are based on merits because they want to admit specific skilled, and efficient immigrant. She added that Swiss immigration laws are more complicated. she was critical of Indian immigration law as there are no clarity and it is run by police.
She added that immigration law is a civil law and not criminal law. She concluded that each country makes it immigration law on the basis of its requirements. The American law stress more on the knowledge of English and on the financial status of immigrant. This is in order to see that immigrant may not become financial liability to the state.
M Santhnam proposed vote of Thank.Thereafter one hour ‘Yoga Session’ was conducted by Mahendrabhai.
