The Guest speaker Raji Lukkoor, was introduced by Pushpa Subarao wherein she mentioned that Raji Lukkoor is a Engineer by profession but very much involved with Vipassana Meditation.
Thereafter Raji Lukkoor introduced the subject with the historical background of Satyanarayan Gonenka who initiated the Vipasana meditation. She informed that the concept of Vipassana is based on the Buddhist philosophy.
She said that all disturbances in life start as we crave for what we do not have with us. We crave for fame ,status, money ,power etc. Besides that we run away from what we do not want. It creates negative effects like,stress, anger, hate, bitterness which disturbed us. It also encourages impulsive behaviours, addiction, and worries
However we looks for happiness, peace of mind, and contentment. The meditation draw out all negative aspects from our inner and outward world. Our inner world is also surrounded with ego, jealousy, expectation and fear etc. The death is the greatest fear for human being.
The upasana workshops are being held periodically to train the mind of participants and to protect them from above mentioned adverse features. During the workshop the touch with outer world is disconnected, and the perfect silence is being observed for introspection. This is done in order to achieve peace of mind and happiness.
she concluded that Meditation creates a bridge between outer and inner worlds. It is based on silence, breathing and body awareness. The meditation create a Sthitaprajna position for the mediators. They also becomes immune of adverse forces in life. It brings more efficiency to face the life.
The Hindustani Classical Music was also presented in the last one hour by Laxmi Kulkarni. Man and Satish Gadadkar accompanied her on Tabla and Violin respectively. Lami Kulkarni presented devotional songs in Rag Bharavi, Jog and Parameshwari. It was received very well. Shakuntala Bahadur proposed vote of Thanks.

T P Subramonian introduced the program and Dinesh Bajaj gave historical background of St Patrick Day which was on 17Th march 2012.
Thereafter Abe Michael Smith presented his talk on the ‘Mormon Church-a personal journey’. He informed that mormon Church is about 182 hundred years old. He said that it was restored in the year 1830. He further clarified that Mormons are Christians. He added that Joseph Smith recover first vision in the year 1820. Smith was not highly educated and was coming from farmer family. The original church did not liked him. He became martyred in the year 1844.
He further stated that church has it own management structure, belief, and service motto. It has its own President, Apostle, Volunteers at various level. There are Young Mission,Adult Mission with some specific work assigned to them. However all are treated equally in the church. Beside that he said Mormon believes that relation between God and Christ is like father and son. He added that Mormon's belief is a way of life.
Mormon prohibits polygamy, smoking, drinking, and gambling. Marriage is forever in our belief. Even Pre- Marriage sexual activities are also very much prohibited. Besides that all Mormons do service to the church without any payment and they are expected to pay 10% of their income to the church for their administration and welfare activities. They give more importance to family values. Besides they also work for natural disaster relief and help to needy.
He concluded that there are 13 to 14 millions Mormons in the world with the strong base. Besides that Mormons are playing very important roles in political, social and cultural life of the world.
The questions answer session was very interesting and several seniors participated therein.

Dr Jagdish Rustogi Presided over the meeting and Guest speaker was S Krishnamurthy,Former Chief of Engineering, Indian Railways, Government of India.
The program was started with prayer presented by Rajlaxmi. Thereafter M L Swamy gave the brief history of the FOSWL. Dr Rustogy gave opening remarks wherein he mentioned about the introduction of the high speed trains in India. He also praised the best managed Delhi Metro. Venkat Rao introduced the guest speaker S Krishnamurthy A Srinivasan also latter on spoke very highly of S Krishnamurthy.
S Krishnamurthy gave presentation on ‘ The development and modernization of Indian Railways’ along with his experiences with the operation of German Railways. He gave the brief history of Railways since its inception at Mumbai in the year 1853.
He also mentioned regarding the structures of Railways in india.He added Railway is having 17 Zones,60 Divisions with 63974 km Tracks. There are 1300000 employees with A,B,C and D Categories.
Besides that Railway has improved the tracks from Wooden to Concrete slabs. It has also gone from Steam Engines to Modern Electrically running Engines. Railway is also manufacturing the latest Locomotives, Wagons and Passengers Coaches. He also mentioned that even signaling system is also modernized like other Western countries.The electromegnetic field technique and optic fiber system are also used in improving the signalling system.
The Railway is also also planting new trees on its land in order to make environment changes. Besides that railway has established own training Colleges and Museums. This being done in order to train its employees for better operation and to maintain its heritage recepectivly. He concluded that Railway is planing for the future needs of people in advance as it has been playing very important role in the Social, and Transportation requirements of the Indian people .

(CELEBRATION OF HOLI AND INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY)

In the begining one of the community organizations presented regarding transportation, healthcare facilities available for seniors.
Thereafter Shakuntala Bahadur introduced the day programs regarding Holi and International women’s Day. She also praised the women for their achievements in the past and present. However she was sorry that still oppression of women are going in the world.
Bharat Desai presented talk on International women day and its history thereon. He also referred Cleopatra, John of Arc, Madam Currie, Janshi ki rani for their contributions in the past. He also added that women has been playing vey important role in the political, economical and social developments of the world. In this connection he quoted names of Margret Thatcher, Angela Merkel, Indira Ghandhi, Srimavo Bandarnaik, Meghawati, Aun suu kiye, etc. He pointed out that still Jailalitha, Mayawati, and Mamata Benerji are playing very important roles in the social and political life of India. He concluded that we have improved the life of women in urban area but women are below standard life in rural area. They are suffering very much in Africa, Middle East and South East Areas. Therefore more is required to be done for them. The best way to empower them is to give them best education.
Zeba Razvi one of the senior member of the opinion that we should practice reforms for women then merely talking.
Rajkumari another Senior Lady member presented one devotional song while Amrita Verma presented the history of Gowalkonda Fort. Krishan Gutala presented few songs from old Indain movies.
Shakuntala Bahadur said Holi is a festival of Love,Friendship and Cleaning the Evil. She further added that the color adds the beauty of Holi Festival. Thereafter Rajlaxmi, Indu Chhabra, Kanan Srivastav and Vijaya Bhardwaj presented the songs relating to Holi. All seniors received them well and they enjoyed them on dancing thereon.
The celebrations ended with distributions of Sweet and applying Tilak on Seniors.

Dr V T Jotwani presented his talk on ‘The Miracle of Modern Medicines’ wherein he divided the medical period in the Past, Present and Future. He also described preantibiotic area wherein women use to suffer the most due to want of medicines. He stated that early marriages, pregnancy,abortion, and birth of several children were the factors due to which women use to suffer. The modern medical facilities have made possible when to get pregnant and when to deliver the child. Besides that some time the suzerain birth of child is better then the normal delivery of child. He added now days even women are refusing give birth to the child on many reasons. He informed the monogram screening system is saving the life of women from breast cancer. However he added that modern medicines have increased the average life in India up to 58/60 years from average of 27 years during the pre Independence period. In the old time surgery beyond the abdomen of the body was unimagined but now surgery on any part of body is possible due to modern medical technique and medicines.He also caution against giving undue importance to vitamins.
Thereafter Dhanusiva presented his talk on ‘ The Current Events-Global and India’.He briefed regarding the latest Oscar academy awards wherein ‘Artist’ was given best film Award. He also informed regarding the latest political position in Afghanistan. He referred the latest Iranian crisis on production of Atom Bomb. Besides that he shortly briefed regarding the elections in UP, Punjab, Goa etc
Dinesh Bajaj shortly briefed regarding the the primary election process for the forthcoming American presidential election. The primary election process is to search the Presidential Leadership regarding the solution of problems like Finance, Taxation, Unemployment, Minimum Wages, Healthcare and Education etc.
Dr V K Jotwani was falicitated on his Birthday at the end.
Smita Sastry took Yoga session for one hours thereafter.
