Mrulani offered prayer in the beginning of program. Thereafter A Narayanaswami presented 'Omkar' with its history thereon.
Rajlaxmi presented history of Indian independence struggle along with present prevailing condition in India.
The guest speaker Dr Subbb Rao started his address with the patriotic songs along with some of the senior members. He reminded that about 117 countries became free following the Indian independence. They were all inspired by the Indian independence struggle and its non violence movement. He also gave history of 'Gandhi Youth Camps all over world including in USA. He further added that India has become free physically but we have to free ourselves in every sense. He said that the creation of Bangladesh has made theory of creating country on the basis religion irreverent. He added sometime language makes stronger Bonds. He further pointed out that literature of Ravindranath Tagore is still popular in Bangladesh. He informed that India has very vast population of Muslims and besides that Nagaland,Mizoram are dominated by christian population. Therefore message of love is the best solution of all religious problems.
Mr and Mrs T P Subramonion presented the reform movements of Vishvanathan. He also added the services rendered by his daughters Mrualini Sarbhai and Capt Laxmi Sehgal. R B Singh presented his eye witness report of the independence day of India, 1947. Dr Jotwani also described his experiences of independent day. He also added that' india is the country who has well stabalised democracy since 65 years. Ramji Patel informed regarding the contributions made by overseas Indians during the Indian freedom struggle. Bharat Desai described the sacrificed made by the freedom fighters. Mrs Talwalkar presented service rendered by Subhaschandra Bose in the freedom struggle.
Thadani, Gita Mahajani, Indu Chhabra, Sita Dinkar and Suhashini presented patriotic songs. Atithi Desai presented 'Mere Deshki Dharati-- song on Key Board.
The program ended with national anthems.
